The Isla Bonita Love Festival, managed by the public company Sodepal of the Cabildo de La Palma, seeks to make the experiences of the LGTBIQ+ collective visible through a round table discussion called Island Realities, which will be held on Tuesday, 23 July, in the Casa de la Cultura in Los Llanos de Aridane, starting at 12:00 noon.
At the event, a diagnosis will be made of the progress, needs and commitments of this group on the island of La Palma, with the aim of studying possible improvements to be made in order to increase the welfare of the people involved.
The Cabildo de La Palma stresses the need to join forces in search of the full happiness of the LGBTIQ+ collective. For this reason, activities such as the round table Insular Realities, benefit the contribution of ideas with the aim of achieving progress in this area.
It is worth highlighting the participation of different LGTBIQ+ associations at regional level in the round table, which is a great opportunity to share ideas between the different islands, all in favour of continuing to make progress in the social aspect.
This is the first meeting in which the Garoé association, recently born on the island of El Hierro, participates, which is a very important social advance for the green islands that La Palma led seven years ago. This advance was born from the Social Strategy of the Isla Bonita Love Festival, whose commitment has been renewed in this edition.
In addition to Garoé, representatives of the association Violetas LGTBi from La Palma, Lánzate, the LGTBI association of Lanzarote, Altihy from Fuerteventura and Diversas from the north of Tenerife will also take part in the Insular Realities meeting. Also present will be the president of the State Federation LGTBI+, Uge Sangil, and the Canarian Association of Anthropology.
