The 27-year-old Dutchman has been at the top of the prestigious DJ Mag list in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022 as No. 1 on the Planet, the youngest producer to reach the global Top 10.
The famous Dutch DJ Martin Garrix will be one of the two headliners of the 2024 edition of the super concert of the Isla Bonita Love Festival, the biggest social event of the Canary Islands promoted for 9 years by the public company Sodepal of the Cabildo Insular de La Palma. The music for diversity is the final culmination of a week of social events in which the island champions and makes visible the defence of equality and LGTBI+ rights.
Garrix joins the other headliner of the impressive 2024 line-up, Ricky Martin, as guest star to offer an exclusive performance for the entire Canary Islands audience, a combination that will delight lovers of live music and big productions, with the participation of other artists already confirmed, such as the Eurovisive Chanel, the Madrid band K!ngdom and the DJ Orribo from La Palma. New artists will be confirmed in the near future.
The president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, affirms that this artist confirms the festival’s commitment to cultural and musical diversity, allowing for top international artists, as well as promoting free love in a space to raise awareness and disseminate equality.
For her part, the CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, stresses that with Martin Garrix we have “one of the greatest in the history of electronic music”, recalling that for some years now he has been the world’s number one in his speciality for specialised media.
Despite his youth, Garrix has taken his experience all over the world, headlining festivals and starring in collaborations with big stars such as Dua Lipa, Bono (U2), Khalid and Macklemore. Moving up the ladder to stardom, the hitmaker is now the founder of his own label (STMPD RCRDS), owner of a studio complex in Amsterdam and mentor to emerging artists.
Songs like ‘The Name of Love’ and ‘Animals’, with which he debuted in 2013, have propelled him to stardom. He has headlined monumental and unique performances such as the 2018 Winter Olympics, Coachella, Lollapalooza, Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland (to name a few) and was the official artist of UEFA Euro 2020.
Promoting freedom
The Isla Bonita Love Festival is a well-established event in the island’s calendar and serves as an international reference, focusing on celebrating the diversity of gender identities and expressions; the creation of an inclusive and respectful space; the defence of rights and opportunities for all people, and promotes freedom of expression and individual rights.
Under these premises, the Cabildo de La Palma, through the public company Sodepal, is working on the design of an extensive programme of activities in favour of the LGBTI collective, which as every year will end with a music festival to be held in the port of Tazacorte.
