The artist returns to La Palma’s Pride after taking part in Madrid’s LGTBIQ+ Pride celebrations and will headline a night in Tazacorte that will also feature Christian Delgado and numerous local artists
On 25 July, Tazacorte will once again become the epicentre of diversity, culture and coexistence in La Palma with the celebration of Orgullo Chiquito LGTBIQ+. The event, promoted by Violetas LGTBIQ+ La Palma and the Cabildo de La Palma, through Sodepal, in collaboration with the Fogalera collective and the Tazacorte Town Council, will bring together a wide-ranging programme of activism and culture in which music will be one of the main attractions. MelÖmana will head an artistic line-up that will also include Christian Delgado and DJ sets by La Mirris, DMC Selectora, Elvira, MÄRE and Magas y Vagueantes.
The artist will arrive in La Palma after taking part in the Pride events held in Madrid to star in one of the most eagerly awaited performances of the day. Her presence also marks a reunion with an event she has been linked to since its very first editions, and whose growth she has helped consolidate as one of the island’s leading cultural and activist gatherings.
The musical programme will take place around Avenida de la Constitución, featuring proposals ranging from urban and electronic music to techno, tropical rhythms and vinyl sessions, reflecting the artistic diversity that characterises this celebration.
A Pride to stand up for freedom and diversity
Beyond the festive side, Orgullo Chiquito will once again focus on defending the rights of the LGTBIQ+ community and on the need to keep building safe, visible and inclusive spaces. The president of Violetas LGTBIQ+ La Palma, Besay Viña, stresses that this celebration is still necessary because many people continue to face discrimination or fear. In this regard, he points out that every person who takes part in Pride sends a clear message of support for diversity, and he reminds us that building a fairer society requires the collective commitment of institutions, organisations and citizens.
For her part, the Councillor for Economic Promotion and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, congratulated the Violetas collective for the work it carries out every day of the year, as well as the involvement of the Tazacorte Town Council, “and especially its residents, for being role models of coexistence, respect and diversity”, which is reflected in the programme of ‘Orgullo Chiquito’, in reference to the municipality.
She also highlighted the work carried out by the Cabildo de La Palma with the Second Equality Plan and through the Isla Bonita Love Festival to give visibility to the work of the third sector.
This year’s pregonero (opening speaker), Natalio Cruz Duque, will focus his speech on the importance of acceptance and visibility, especially for those who grew up feeling different in small communities. His address will vindicate Pride as a space of resistance and freedom, recalling that there are still people who suffer discrimination or rejection for showing who they are. “Pride was born so that no one has to apologise for existing”, he will state during a speech in which he will also call on La Palma’s society to keep moving forward in equality and respect.
The march will go through the historic “París Chiquito”
The day will kick off with the most activist moment of Orgullo Chiquito: the march for LGTBIQ+ rights, which will set off from Plaza del Morro and make its way through the streets of Tazacorte to the emblematic Balcón de Ana Dora.
The march will be accompanied by music, entertainment and the involvement of local businesses and collectives, turning the town’s streets into a meeting place to demand equality, diversity and respect. The route will end with the reading of the opening speech and the Pride manifesto, followed by the scheduled cultural and musical activities.
Under its new name, Orgullo Chiquito, the organising collective pays tribute to Tazacorte’s historic nickname, popularly known as the “París Chiquito” (Little Paris) for its open, cosmopolitan and festive character. A hallmark that connects with the values promoted by the event and that will once again be present during a day conceived to celebrate diversity from La Palma’s roots.
The Yeleina Acosta short story competition, a record-breaking edition
The winners of the short story competition will be announced during the event. The second edition of this competition, Yeleina Acosta Acosta, has achieved a historic record of participation, consolidating itself as one of the flagship cultural and activist initiatives promoted by Violetas LGTBIQ+ La Palma. The contest, which honours the founder of the association and a key figure of LGTBIQ+ activism on the island, has gathered the highest number of entries since its creation, confirming citizens’ growing interest in using literature as a tool for expression, memory and social transformation.
Through this initiative, the collective continues to preserve the legacy of Yeleina Acosta and to encourage stories that give visibility to the realities, experiences and demands of the LGTBIQ+ community, helping to build a collective memory that is more diverse, inclusive and representative of La Palma’s society.
Music, culture and diversity from 6:00 pm
The march will leave Plaza del Morro at 6:00 pm, marking the start of a cultural programme that will run throughout the evening and into the night. After the activist events, the audience will be able to enjoy the performance of Christian Delgado and a musical programme headed by MelÖmana, who will bring the day to a close.
They will be joined by La Mirris, a DJ and music producer born in La Palma and considered one of the most promising representatives of the new Canary Islands scene. Her proposal combines urban, electronic and contemporary commercial sounds with a strong island identity.
The line-up will also feature DMC Selectora, a vinyl collector and selector based in La Palma, a regular at events such as Akelarre and Chica Party, known for her eclectic sessions spanning multiple musical styles.
Elvira will contribute a selection marked by her personality and musical elegance. Known as “El Bagañete de Oro”, she combines timeless classics with current sounds, becoming a reference for those looking for proposals far from conventional formulas.
MÄRE will also join in, an artist who builds sessions where progressive, techno and tribal-inspired rhythms come together. Her proposal stands out for a carefully curated musical selection and a constant, dancefloor-oriented energy.
Completing the line-up is Magas y Vagueantes, a project formed by DJ LaBasta and DJ Torrija, born in La Palma in 2025 with the aim of giving visibility to music created by women and dissident identities. Through rhythms such as cumbia, dub, dembow and reggaeton, they champion musical and gender diversity with an open, inclusive proposal deeply connected to roots sounds.
With all this, Orgullo Chiquito will once again turn Tazacorte into a space for gathering, celebration and activism, reaffirming its position as one of the main cultural and social events of the summer in La Palma.
